audiworld.com 2017 Audi R8 LMS 24 Hours of Daytona race results

Audi Customer Racing R8LMS/GTD cars finished a respectable 2nd, 4th and 6th (great job on the even numbering) at this year’s running in Daytona. The 2nd place car was the number 29 of Land Motorsport, 4th place was the Stevenson Racing car, and 6th was the Alex Job Racing entry. While Audi is generally not known for aspiring for finishing second, 3 cars in the top 10 means significant points in the series, for sure.

The race itself was good for Audi, who saw great speed early and lead the class for much of the evening. As with most 24 hour races, each team had their share of incidents, but overall each should be immensely proud of their performance at this amazing race!

The weather at this year’s race was certainly not Florida like. Extremely cold temperatures and significant rainfall caused havoc throughout the race. It’s not unusual to have lots of safety car periods at this event, but this year the Audi R8 safety car(s) got quite a workout. Nearly one quarter of the race was under caution.
