· Compact model winner in the category “transportation Design”

· Jury cites the “minimalistically beautiful, pure and perfect” A3 interior in its decision

· Design prize to be presented this evening in Munich

Ingolstadt – The current Audi A3 has been honored once again for its design. According to the iF jury, both the interior and exterior of the compact model from AUDI AG set new standards in design. Achim Badstübner, Head of Exterior Design at Audi, accepted the prize tonight in Munich. For the iF product design award 2013, there were a total of 3,011 entries in 16 categories.

The jury from iF International Forum Design GmbH presented the top 50 of 3,011 entries in the competition with the iF gold award for product design. In the category “transportation design,” the Audi A3 impressed the jury with its “minimalistically beautiful, pure and perfect” interior. “All of the details are very precisely executed, and the quality of the materials is unsurpassed. The interior of the Audi A3 is the best the automotive industry currently has to offer,” said the jury in its decision.

The winners of the iF design awards reflect the current quality of well-designed products. “The Audi A3 illustrates our modern design language with few, but highly precise lines in both the interior and exterior design,” describes Chief Designer Wolfgang Egger the Audi A3. “The slim instrument panel, for example, gives the interior of the A3 an airy feeling. The aim is to unit numerous functions with a clear and reduced architecture in the cockpit.”

The jury presented the award last night in the Bavarian state capital as part of “Munich Creative Business Week”.
