The Audi A6 quattro is the best “Four-Wheel-Drive Car of 2005” in the luxury class. The runner-up in this class was the Audi A8 quattro. This was the verdict of readers of Germany’s “AUTO BILD ALLES ALLRAD”. More than 34,000 readers took part in the poll conducted by Europe’s most popular four-wheel-drive magazine. With another three second places going to the A3 quattro, the A4 quattro and the TT Coupé quattro, Audi is the most successful brand overall in this readers’ poll. Readers were able to choose from a total of 102 models in nine categories.

After numerous national and international trophies and victory in the “World Car of the Year” award, this is the latest stage in the success story of the new Audi A6, which was only launched in 2004. The Audi A8 completed the Ingolstadt manufacturer’s outstanding performance in this poll with second place in the luxury class. The runners-up spot in the compact class went to the Audi A3. The Audi A4 was the readers’ second favourite in the midsize class. The Audi TT also made it on to the winner’s rostrum as runner-up in the “four-wheel-drive sports car coupés” category. This is further convincing proof of the superiority of quattro permanent four-wheel drive.

It is 25 years since Audi revolutionised the automotive industry with the unveiling of the first Audi quattro at the Geneva Motor Show. More traction, better handling, consistent dynamism, safe driving – this is what quattro drive has stood for right up to the present day. The Audi model range currently comprises 74 four-wheel-drive versions. Over the past 25 years, more than 1.8 million vehicles with permanent four-wheel drive have left the production line at Audi, far more than is the case for any other manufacturer.
