Audi remains in the fast lane: “We will end 2004 with new record vehicle sales. And yet more success awaits us in 2005. We will then be able to reap the rewards of our ongoing efforts this year.” This announcement was made by Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, at the press conference during the Paris Motor Show.

This confident prediction is underpinned above all by the market figures for the latest models in what Prof. Dr. Winterkorn described as “the youngest product range in the premium segment”: the 12-cylinder A8, which made its debut in January 2004 – like the eight-cylinder A8 before it – emerged as the leading model in its specific segment.

There is yet more success to report: the A6, which has only been on the market since May 2004, with further versions still awaiting their launch, has already raced ahead of its German competitors in the category of large six-cylinder diesel models.
The new Audi A3 Sportback, too, has already attracted a large number of customers: well over 20,000 orders have already been received within just three weeks of its market launch in September 2004.

The new Audi A4, A4 Avant and S4 are now set to build on this successful product offensive. The latest generation of this top-selling midsize car is being unveiled to the public in Paris, which is simultaneously its first appearance at an automotive exhibition. As well as featuring the latest Audi brand design, this model line incorporates technologies that have previously been reserved for the full-size category.
