HERNDON, Va – Audi this week received the Best Global OEM Infotainment Solution Award at the 10th Annual Telematics Update Awards. The award for its Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB) – first introduced in the all-new 2012 Audi A3 – was presented at a ceremony in Novi, Mich. as part of Telematics Detroit, the world’s largest and most influential business-focused conference and exhibition for the entire telematics ecosystem. Audi also was nominated for the Best Navigation Solution or Product Award and Telematics Leadership Award. This is the second time that Audi received the Award, previously earned in 2011.

The Telematics Update Awards offer organizations across the global telematics industry the opportunity to showcase their latest telematics products, services and initiatives to the wider world. They are designed to recognize and to reflect the hard work, talent and potential in bringing to fruition real products and real advances in telematics. Over 70 of the telematics industries most innovative and successful companies made the list of finalists this year.

“We are honored to be recognized, especially in front of such a distinguished crowd of innovators,” said Anupam Malhotra, Manager, Connected Vehicle, Audi of America. “Audi’s radical new MIB allows independent evolution of automotive-cycle and consumer-electronics cycle multimedia systems so that we can implement the latest and greatest innovations that allow the best possible customer experience with infotainment in the vehicle.”

Audi’s multi-media extension (MMX) serves as a plug-in board that converges all the necessary graphics processing, voice control, online, media, navigation, and telephone functionality as well as working and flash memory into a single module. This approach makes it easy to update the hardware to ensure that Audi’s infotainment solution remains at the cutting edge of technology and can keep up with the demands of real-time information processing and 3D-graphics visualization at freeway speeds on high-resolution displays. This has allowed Audi to integrate the latest Nvidia graphics processors into its MMI hardware and is a primary contributor to the success in the launch of Audi connect services such as Google Streetview, Google Earth and Google Voice Local Search.
