The all-new Audi A8 continues to sell at a swift pace despite the difficult economy and competitive sales environment in the luxury segment. Audi of America, Inc. reported 2004 February sales of the A8 were 424 compared to 99 vehicles sold the previous year. The A4 Cabriolet posted a small increase with sales of 534, a 0.6 percent increase over last February. Overall, Audi sales were 4,538, down from February 2003 sales of 6,156.
Audi Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) business continues to represent a large growth opportunity for Audi of America. With greater focus on CPO across the dealer network, Audi reported a double-digit increase in February. For the month, Audi CPO sold 1,825 units, a 36 percent increase from the previous year when sales were 1,346. The largest driver of this increase was the Audi A6, accounting for approximately 55 percent of the volume.
