In the “Autonis 2005” readers’ choice, a total of three Audi models won through against some prestigious competition from at home and abroad. With three victories, a second spot and three third places, Audi was by far the most successful car manufacturer in this year’s survey. With a clear lead – and the best results of all the candidates – the Audi A8 once again came top of the “luxury category”, following its victories in 2003 and 2004.

The Audi A4 also won the “mid-range” category for the third time in a row. With a total of four victories in six years of “Autonis”, it is now the car with the most awards of all. And what must be the most successful debutant of 2004, the A6, won the “upper mid-range” category by a considerable margin at its first attempt, ahead of its most important German competitors.

The Audi A3 took second place in the compact category. Third places went to the Audi allroad quattro in the off-road category, the A4 Cabriolet among the soft-tops, and the Audi Le Mans in the design study category.

The “Autonis” awards for the best car design were presented for the sixth time by the Berlin car journal “AUTO Straßenverkehr” in cooperation with its Stuttgart-based sister publication “mot”. Readers were able to choose from a total of 306 models in 12 categories.

This emphatic decision by more than 36,000 well-informed readers serves to underline the expressiveness of Audi’s design philosophy. With its innovative styling, it combines emotion and precision to produce the kind of dynamism which is characteristic of the Audi brand.
