“sport auto award 2012”: triple victory for Audi
Audi scored no less than three victories in the “sport auto Award 2012” readers’ poll. The Audi A1 quattro took first place in the subcompact category, the Audi RS 3 Sportback was the top sedan below 50,000 euros, while the Audi quattro concept was rated “most exciting study.” “sport auto” magazine has been presenting the award since 1980. This year, more than 10,000 readers picked their favorites from more than 250 sports cars.
2.5 liter TFSI ranked “Engine of the Year” for the third time in succession
A jury of 76 motor journalists from the world over chose the Audi 2.5 liter TFSI as “International Engine of the Year” in 2012 in the 2 to 2.5 liter engine category. This was the third consecutive time the engine won the award. A turbocharged design with FSI direct injection, it powers the Audi TT RS, TT RS plus as well as the Audi RS 3 Sportback.
Award for Modular Infotainment Matrix in the Audi A3
At the tenth “Telematics Update Award”, Audi’s Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB) was chosen “Best Global OEM Infotainment Solution.” The new A3 is the brand’s first model to feature the MIB. “This is a solution allowing us to implement innovations in our cars in order to provide our customers with the best possible infotainment,” says Anupam Malhotra, Manager Connected Vehicle at Audi of America. This is the second consecutive time Audi has won the trophy.
Audi A5 is “Our Car 2012”
The Audi A5 is the most popular German car in Germany’s new federal states (the former German Democratic Republic). This is the result of a vote by 100,000 participants in the 13th readers’ poll of the eastern German regional weeklies. This is the fifth time an Audi has been chosen “Our Car”.
Euro NCAP Reward goes to Audi pre sense plus
The Euro NCAP Consortium honored Audi’s pre sense plus safety system with its “Reward 2012.” This driver assistance system uses radar sensors and cameras to monitor traffic ahead of the car and behind it. In an emergency, it initiates steps to prevent a collision or mitigate its consequences. The “European New Car Assessment Programme” began evaluating car manufacturers’ safety systems in 2010 in order to assist customers in making purchasing decisions. In addition, Euro NCAP has been conducting crash tests for many years. The Audi A6, for which Audi pre sense plus is available as an option, received a five-star rating following a crash test last year.
Kelley Blue Book honors Audi TT Roadster and A5 Cabriolet
The Audi TT Roadster and the A5 Cabriolet rank among the top ten convertibles. The publishers of Kelley Blue Book, the United States’ largest service provider for sales consulting and used car valuation, liked the 2012 versions of the two convertibles. The Audi A5 Cabriolet was recognized for its combination of style, fine workmanship and performance. The Audi TT Roadster scored for its sportiness and excellent handling.
