INGOLSTADT, Germany – As in the past two years the 2011 meeting of the world’s best female golf pros is presented by Audi. As the Presenting Sponsor of the UniCredit Ladies German Open, Audi equips the shuttle fleet and provides an A5 Cabriolet and an R8 Spyder as prizes for the best female professional golfers. The tournament will be held at Gut Häusern on the outskirts of Munich from May 19 to 22.

The Ladies German Open, which marked the return of a professional ladies tournament to Germany in 2008, has since evolved into a highlight of the season. In May, Audi will be supporting the world’s best lady pros, who will compete for victory and a total pot of 350,000 euros at Gut Häusern, for the fourth time. In addition to the prize money, the winner will receive a dream car from Audi: an A5 Cabriolet. Last year, Laura Davies from the UK won the car and the monetary prize.

“Within three years the Ladies German Open has become a firmly established event on the calendar of the world’s best female pros. Audi has been part of the program from the outset and we are pleased with the positive response shown by the participants and spectators,” says Dr. Hans-Peter Kleebinder, Head of Marketing Germany of AUDI AG. “I wish all players a successful preparation for the event and am sure that in May we will again see high-caliber golf accompanied by the symbol of the Four Rings.”

Winning the tournament is not the only way for one of the contenders to drive home in a car made by the automobile manufacturer based in Ingolstadt. The R8 Spyder sports car will be the hole-in-one prize going to the golfer who puts the ball into the 15th hole with one strike. However, in the tournament’s three-year history this rare feat has not been achieved yet.

Even without this masterful strike the golfers, officials and guests will be able to experience “Vorsprung durch Technik” at Gut Häusern. As the official vehicle partner, Audi equips the shuttle fleet with 25 cars including Audi Q5, Audi Q7 and Audi A8 models. In addition, ten selected golfers will receive an Audi A3 Cabriolet for the duration of the tournament.

Audi offers a popular meeting place for players and guests: the Audi Golf Terminal. There, the automobile manufacturer will showcase a selection of the current model range to the spectators, who amounted to some 20,000 in the past few years, throughout the tournament.

The commitment as the Presenting Sponsor marks one of the highlights in AUDI AG’s extensive involvement in international golf. The Audi quattro Cup is entering into as much as its 21st season these weeks. The entrants in the world’s most popular amateur golf series play at the invitation of regional Audi partners for the chance to compete in the world finale, to be held this year at the Mission Hills Golf Club on the outskirts of the Chinese metropolis Shenzhen from November 7 to 11. The Audi Ladies Cup, played at about 120 German golf clubs, is the corresponding event for female amateur golfers.

2011 is also the year in which the decision is made about who will get to host the 2018 Ryder Cup. Audi supports the bid of RC Deutschland GmbH with the facility of the Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds in Neuburg an der Donau. The announcement of whether or not the world’s most prestigious tournament will be held in Germany for the first time will be announced on May 17.
