STaSIS Places in the Top 10 in Each Race at Watkins Glen Double Race Weekend
Watkins Glen, New York (June 10, 2007) Coming off his win at Lime Rock Chip Herr piloted his #17 STaSIS/Clear Capital Audi A4 to two top ten finishes at Watkins Glen this weekend. Herr had a busy weekend with two STaSIS SPEED World Challenge Touring Car races as well as driving in the STaSIS SPEED World Challenge GT race. STaSIS driver Ian Baas was also busy racing multiple stints in Sahlens Six Hours at the Glen. In Saturdays race Herr took advantage of a good start to move from 16th on the grid to 14th by the end of the first lap. Herr methodically worked his way up the field finishing in 10th position. After the race Herr commented, I did not get as good a qualifying run as I would have liked, but STaSIS gave me a car that allowed me to improve my position during the race. With all the position changing it will make for great TV viewing. Saturday Ian Baas put in a strong showing from 14th on the grid to 12th at the finish in his #18 STaSIS/Audi World Audi A4. Baas got into traffic and fell back to 18th at the end of the first lap. Then he battled for position throughout the race improving six spots from that point to finish 12th. In his third race of the season on Saturday Adam Pecorari looked to be ready for another stellar performance as the highest qualifying Audi starting from 13th on the grid in his #19 STaSIS/GIAC Audi A4. From there Pecorari went to work improving his position to 12th position at the end of lap one, but on lap seven a mechanical issue forced him from the race. On Sunday Adam Pecorari was definitely ready to go after being forced from Saturdays race and he delivered driving his #19 STaSIS/GIAC Audi A4 from 14th on the grid to finish in 7th position. After the race Pecorari commented, After yesterday I really wanted to get out and show what I could do today. The STaSIS crew literally worked through the night after yesterdays race to repair and improve my car. I cant say enough about those guys. The performance today is a real credit to them. Despite not running in the first race of the season and only finishing one of the two races at Watkins Glen Pecorari is in 2nd in the Piloti Rookie of the Year points trailing by only five points. Herr was running strong in Sundays race until swerving to avoid a lap 9 incident dropped him back to 13th position. From there Herr made a steady climb back into the top ten finishing in 9th. In Sundays race Ian Baas start at 13th on the grid in his #18 STaSIS/Audi World Audi A4. By lap seven he was threatening for a top ten position from 11th place. On lap eight contact with another car forced him to retire. Saturdays round 4 of the 2007 SPEED World Challenge Touring Car race at Watkins Glen will be aired on SPEED Saturday, June 30th at 2:00pm Eastern Time with Sundays round 5 to follow at 3:00pm Eastern Time.
