Default 2002 Audi A4 1.8t check engine light

My check engine light came on after my car was hesitant at starting. I had to turn it over about 4 times before it cranked on. Took it to auto zone and the machine said it was the cam sensor. Replaced the cam sensor, car starts right up with no issues and the check engine light came back on after 45 miles. Guess I'll be taking it back to auto zone.

Could a leaky head gasket cause the check engine light to come on?

Probably not. And its a very very rare occurrence on 1.8T cars. The gasket is a very tough multi layer steel gasket. Whats the fault code?

Turns out it's the valve cover gasket and the mechanic told me that's what's causing the cam shaft sensor to come up on the code
