99 quattro auto not shifting gears properly off and on
Around 116k my car stopped going into reverse (except in limp mode)and would not go into the forward gears properly. It would start from a stop in 5th and would often finally get to the correct gear with a thud. I changed the fluid and filter and gradually things got better but not perfect. Well about 122k my car started doing it again and my obd scanner indicated that various gears had "incorrect gear ratios". I would reset it and after about 30 miles of this it would stop going into limp mode and perform ok. This stopped after about 750 miles. About a month ago I changed the trans fluid again as part of a bunch of other upgrades I was doing, including changing all fluids. Yesterday out of the blue everything started happening again (128k). I replaced the trans speed sensor today and it didn't change the problem. My vag com gave me the following results:

I have a transmission multi function switch and am wondering if that might cure the problem. Please help. I can't deal with the off and on anymore.

Believe it or not I went in this afternoon to replace the transmission multi function switch. In doing so I noticed that the connection that goes into the front of the transmission as well as the one that goes to the trans multi switch were wet on the inside and one had milky fluid indicative of an oil water mix. I cleaned them, tried to seal them better, put in dielectric grease, put in the new switch, and it the trans runs perfectly. I had just gotten home about 5 hours earlier and it was in limp mode for 3/4 trip. Fingers crossed. AUDI has terrible electrical connections
