Default Overheating Issue

Just bought an 2004 A4; previous owner said they had drained and replaced the coolant. It's been overheating whenever I go uphill and the coolant level light comes on. When I stop or coast in neutral the temperature goes back down. If I'm driving on flat road I can drive forever without overheating; only when going uphill under the extra load it overheats. I've been topping off the coolant after each time I drive and it seems to be leaking little to none coolant. Help?

Impeller on water pump is broken or radiator is clogged or? You will be able to check water temperature at the engine block, fitting of Radiator hose on e/block and radiator etc if you have an infrared thermometer. Good luck. x19
