Default Pinholes/pitting forged pistons

Hey long time vortex member just coming over . So my B5 big turbo/eurodyne setup has been chugging along fine for 20k and it's forged /h beam built bottom end has held up to some abuse but I recently noticed when changing injectors /plugs that there is a ton of very tiny pinhole pitting on the piston tops I'm guessing from pre ignition or detonation but just wanted to toss it out here to see if anyone else has had the same issue ? I have never heard it " pinging" and assumed even a bit of it for a couple seconds wouldn't be an issue but I do run cheap gas in it sometimes (87) :/ and it's a 92? Octane tune sooooo yea . Lesson learned maybe .
