Default Transmission Exorcism

I have a 99 A4 1.8t Quattro Tiptronic (115k). About a month after buying it, it stopped going into reverse and forward gears were a mess. I kept getting an OBD II message saying incorrect gear ratio in normally 3rd and 5th gear. The transmission would normally go into limp mode, at which point it would go into reverse. Well I changed the fluid and filter, which did no good. Things got a little better except for the reverse until about two weeks ago when I noticed that it would immediately go into limp mode, I would reset it using my torque bluetooth app and after about 30 miles it would start going into limp mode. Well The last week things have miraculously gotten better (after I spent $500 on a trans multi switch and a trans speed sensor still in the box). Should I install the multi function (neutral safety switch) or return them to see if the current state of affairs continue. Thanks in advance

Return those parts. Neither will cause this. As soon as any fault codes like ratio monitoring come up and the fluid is full. The trans is junk, its input and output speeds are not matching = slipping clutches. You changing the fluid might have helped limp it along but it will fail all together soon.

Sheesh 500 for the range sensor? I should start saving them off junk transmissions apparently lol.

NO NO NO that is not what I wanted to hear but thank you for the input. This may sound stupid but the trans speed sensor wouldn't have anything to do with this? Definitely save those multifunction switches. Do you have any "saved transmissions" and I would really like to go with stick, I imagine that would be a pain with Quattro?
THANK YOU AGAIN
