Default correct Crankshaft seal size

I just bought another A4, 1996 with 12v AFC. am replacing the timing belt, water pump, idler and tensioner, and cam/crank seals as I don't know when it was last done. I've done the TB job on a 30V, and am competent at mechanic work. purchased all parts from ECS, everything went well until I started up the car. ECS provided a 47x32x10 crank seal (same as the cams), and their site says that's the correct part. On start up, I got an oil leak, and traced it to the (new) crank seal. In checking other parts seller sites, the information is mixed, but some sites say that seal should be 48x35x10. The seal I installed seemed very tight on the shaft, and it appears to be leaking around the outer edge, so a larger ID and OD seems right to me. Anyone know for sure which seal is correct? I took the car back apart, don't want to put the wrong part in and have to do it a third time. Thanks for the help!

This message took so long to post that I went ahead and ordered another seal from Napa, which was the correct 48x35x10. I don't know if there is a change during the model year, so use caution. For a $3 part, it would have been worth getting both, had I known there were two possible options. Napa only shows one for a '96 12-valve, and that was the correct seal.

ECS owes you, yes their listing is incorrect..the crank seal and cam seals are different. 068103085E is the cam seals 47x10. Crank seal is 48x10x35 part number 038103085E.

It is always a good idea to compare the old seals once removed with the new parts..if you can. Our cars have become vintage. Some listings are just wrong.
