Help! Power Hesitation between 2k-3k rpms
So I have a 1997 a4 quattro and when accelerating between 2-3k rpms the engine hesitates but as soon as you hit 3k it smooths back out. Any ideas?

Moe, could be a lot of things..but the best approach are the basics. Recent tune up? Spark plugs, air and fuel filter? Spark plug wires in good shape? connection to and coil pack wires good? Check engine light on?
A good set of NGKs BKUR6ET10 would be a start if you don't know the last time the plugs were changed.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I will have to check on the fuel filter. The air filter is clean.
As for the spark plugs, I have no idea but thanks for the advise.
I just bought the car off Craigslist... and I thought it was a pretty good deal.
So far I've done Heads, Timing belt, Serpentine belt, Camshaft position sensor all the gaskets and pulleys to.
Any chance the power steering pump failing could have anything to do with this? It was whining and making a lot of noise then today the serpentine belt got shredded, so I'm going to replace the power steering pump
