Hi, I'm wondering how to find out what transmission is in my 1997 a6 avant Quattro 2.8l 12v? In the maintenance hand book it says the engine code is AFC. The engine no. Is CKF. And the transmission code is CJD. Is CJD what it is called when referring to it?
Also, what flavour of ATF does it like?
I'm hoping to have the car home this weekend. I just bought it and am waiting to get it on the road.

If the sticker/label is still intact near the spare tire well, you can verify the trans code there.

Valvoline Maxlife ATF works great in those transmissions and is full synthetic. Are you changing fluid and filter?

Yep the sticker is in the maintenance schedule book. I wasn't sure if it listed a code or the actual name of the tranny. I thank you for the pointer!

I'm not sure if I'll be changing the ATF soon or not, the previous owner said it was done according to the schedule. 140k kms. or so. I would like to keep some ATF in the house, now I know what kind. Thank you.
