Has anyone separated the halves of their Power Steering pump? Mine appears to be working just fine but has been leaking from in between the two halves for a while now. It has been slowly getting worse. I am thinking about just taking it apart and sealing it with some RTV. I wasn't sure if any special tools were required and didn't want to risk having to buy a new one. I can't swing $200 for a new pump right now.

I don't think RTV will help..you need those "O" rings and seals..see if this link helps.

Thank you for the information. It's good to know it's possible to replace the seals myself. My pump looks different then the one in the write-up and appears to have a metal gasket in between the halves (which is why I was thinking about RTV). I'll do a little more digging to see if I can find a seal kit.
