Change of pistons and rings due to oil issue
Hello,
After several times, years and conversations w/ my Audi Dealer due to the oil issue that has affected many 2.0 Tfsi engines, they aré going to change my A4-2009 the pistons and rings, NO Charge.
Has anyone has experienced the post new rings and pistons? I mean any issues to be concerned about? I have read lost of power & lower miles per gallon, thus no thread dedícated to the results of the repair.
Thank you in advance

Hi, You got a good news from audi and good luck to this problem. Did they explain to you what they will do for your problem?
At least they have to do the Valve and ring job that we call which means grinding valves and not just replace the piston and ring. They have to find out where was problem and why did your engine had problem. I hope they will do these and more job includes ( checking the piston ring end gap to clearance of piston ring and wall in groove and horning cylinder wall and wash out of cylinder wall after finished this etc) and better to replace the engine bearing at this time. And more, turbo maybe need because, shaft wear out I think(Hope not this).
If your engine had too much sludge inside of Engine, then you have to use the ENGINE oil cleaning device for removing the debris from circulate oil that is my recommendation.
The last, you are better to drive 3~500 miles FWY driving to seating (P/ring to cylinder wall) well.
I like to hear from you what they done for your problem. x19

Hello x19, thanks for the answer.....actually I have already tested the car and it runs as new so far...had some little issues regarding the re assembly of certain (non critical) parts, that Audi happily has repair. Bottom line if some has the oil issue it seems that the change on half engine can be also the solution.
