Oil Consumption
I know this has been a huge topic all over the internet, but im beyond furious at this point. The low oil warning came on, the latest after only 450 miles. It originally started at around 3000 and has gradually become more and more frequent. The last time was roughly 800 miles. My car is out of warranty, but my dealer contacted AOA and had authorization to perform the first part of the oil consumption test. This is the second time they have done it, the previous time was a couple years ago, while i was still under warranty. Once again, they said its not considered excessive. At what point is it considered excessive? 1 quart every 450 miles seems WAY too excessive. At this rate ill be paying $200+ to fill oil between oil changes. What kinds of options do i have? Has anyone had luck with a dealer siding with you and taking action to fix the issue? My car only has 47k miles, and i cant afford to purchase a new one, and especially since i paid 40k+ for this one a little over 4 years ago. I fear that at this rate, there will me a malfunction in the engine and ill be screwed. I have contacted AOA and am awaiting their response while they "investigate" the dealers records and findings.

My dealer said that you need to burn through a quart at less than 1K miles for it be excessive. My Q5 uses a quart every 2K. My 06 A4 doesn't use any oil at all. We are very happy with the Q5 so I'll just be adding a quart every 2K. If that is my biggest issue then I can live with it.
