Default 2001 Allroad

I have a 2001 Allroad with the now infamous "Won't go in reverse" problem. My car is an 2.7T auto. Allroad trannys cost more than I paid for the car. I found an 2001 S4 Tranny from a partout. What would I need to make this work in my allroad? Looked online and only found answers involving manual conversions. Thank you!

Ratio is different, the computer will put it right in limp mode when you start driving. You could pour over wire diagrams, see if the pin outs for the Transmission computer are the same, if they are, just swap out the transmission computer and it possibly would work. As far as i Know, physically they are the same, and all the electrical plugs are the same. Not many have done this, since it requires insane amount of work for a maybe.

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market I see plenty of wreckers have good used ones for 900-1000 bucks. If your doing it yourself thats pretty reasonable to fix it.

After some more research someone suggested that it could be the neutral safety switch? Is this the likely culprit to the no reverse problem? All dash indicators state as they should and it will back up slightly when first started and placed in reverse... PLEASE HELP!!!

No. Its the transmission. Where talking about a direct link from shifter to the valve in the valve body moving the valve and applying hydraulic pressure to the reverse circuit. I had one car the guy insisted I just change the fluid. I was sure it would do nothing. Sure enough, no reverse when I was done, took it for a drive, came back, reverse worked. The car has been coming in for almost a year now and it still works lol. Not saying this will fix your car, but its always worth a shot...
