Default Down pipe removal- WTFudge?

Trying to remove downpipes to weld in new flex pipes. Others have done it. Have no idea how, maybe on younger cars. I just need to know it can be done w/o dropping the engine. Do the shields have to come off or is it just easier? Looks like there's access to all bolts to some extent. Did this on a 6sp Passat V6. Add turbos and a fat *** tip trans yeesh! Wanted to leave pulling the engine for when the turbos go.

You remove those shields, support the engine, and lower the subframe down till you can access all the bolts. They are insanely tight....good luck.

Default Cool thanks

So I drop the whole subframe straight down. I have a trans jack that should be able to handle it. Thanks a lot.
