Hi everyone. My a6 through the p2296 code which i understand is the high preasure pump. Had all the classic syptoms. Wouldnt rev, wouldnt make proper power, missing beats and acting up. I took the pump out and the hardness is worn off the follower but niether it or the cam is badly worn. When the car is cold it fires right up then rpugh idles and dies. After a couple times and some revs it stays running just fine. So my question is do the actual pumps ever fail? And if not has anyone ever seen all of this add up to being some other issue rather then the cam follower thay drives the pump?
