Default 1st road trip....

Central piedmont up 220 thru Roanoke VA, 64 west interstate into West Virgina then up 219 for 70 miles to Snowshoe mountain.

Highway with lots of turns, interstate with 70mph limit, and 2 lane back roads with lots of switch backs to climb the mountain! Dry, Wet, and some snow..........otherwise the perfect test drive for an allroad on ALLROAD's!!!

Coming from a 2010 Avant with 60k miles on it I am very impressed with how many improvements that were made on this car in 5 years. It feels bigger but not in a bad way. The 8 speed transmission vs the 6 I thought would be too busy but I was very wrong, its wonderful!!

driving in very tight mountain roads in S mode makes for a more surefooted ride, coming down I rarely had to ride my brakes. Tip mode was ok (Allroad is wifes car, I drive a manual) but I prefer to let the car figure it out and S mode did great!!

We had narrowed out choice between an Q5 and the Allroad. To us, the Allroad is like a modified Q5 as it lowered and faster while very comfortable. We did not seek out "sport" supension as we are very happy with this cars feel in its natural form. Certainly better handling than the Q5 and better fuel economy.

I used to have a first generation allroad with 2.7 Biturbo and 6Sp manual when the kids were home. Now empty nesters I drive a 328i Coupe with sport and manual Transmisison. The allroad is a great empty nest cruiser!

The ski conditions were great, we had a great time just the two of us, some great dinners and our 4.5 hour drive was excellent!
