Default Best Tires for the allroad - Ride + Handling ?

Has anyone changed their tires. I'm planning to change the OEM Pirelli Centurato.
It feels too bouncy. I want to get as close to the ride of the A6, comfly on the highway but firmly footed (not bouncy)
and firm on the corners too.

I'm thinking Continental Extreme Contact DW, Michellin Pilot Sports AS3, or Yokohama Y580.

Anyone very satisfied with upgraded tires ???? Thanks.

I run Michelin Pilot Alpin in the Winter and always look forward to the smoother ride. Their performance Summer line is likely even more satisfying.

My Q5TDI has Conti Extreme Contact DWS all-seasons and they are smooth, quiet, and handle well. The S-Line package had Summer tires on the unit, which the dealer swapped me for these at no charge before delivery. Also, these are an Audi approved tire, which the dealer was very strict about using.

Basically, we are running on the same platform. I would not hesitate in buying another set of these or recommending them to anyone.

I am rolling on Yokohama's new Advan Sport A/S tires. They've been great. I'm 14k miles down the road with them. They are still quiet and great dry/rain/snow performance.

I would recommend them.

Part of the problem with the Pirellis is the relatively high sidewall ratio. Perhaps a 255/40 or 265/35R18 would stiffen the ride a bit without too much impact on the speedometer calibration.

Best to go with what you can find at what price point.

For instance PZero Nero look good at $380 new in 18" at DTD 235/50-18

The new BFG is claimed to be awesome in snow.

My experience with Altimax 43 is awesome in that department.

However I went with Eagle Sports I scored a near-new set for $480

Goodyear*Eagle Sport All-Season (W-Speed Rated)

More later

See if Conti TruContact comes in your size if you want something cutting edge & quality. I know where there are 2 nice Altimax in 245/45-18 used, mate with 2 new ones for about $450 total. The tire and esp snow tire market is really tight now, but I got my Michelin x-ice 3 down to $480 new in 17".

Cheating to 235/50-18 and beating the search engine will show some great bargains. My Eagles are $750 new, the ones I got are 10 to 11/32" date code 2015 for $380 in 18", kind of a steal. I wished I went with the Altimax when the news of the snow storm came, but I put the money I saved toward the x-ice3...$600 minus $120 in rebates at DTD (235/55-17) You can look at 225/55-17 but I think they are a skip when 235/55 is 99 load and like 1/4" taller... I can't picture 225s on an AR with wider track...?

Got the 235/50-18 Eagles installed, they feel great.

These or the General Altimax for $125 are worth a look for any people follow this thread...

I mentioned the 235/50-18, so I have to at least post a pic. The 235 width def sharpens the steering.

Height is +2% Load rating is one higher, which confirms it as a good choice.
