Default License plate grill filler

I just purchased a 2013 Allroad and I'm loving it so far. I know ther are a few posts about removing the license plate frame to show off the pretty grill but the U.S. versions come with holes and cut outs. The posts offered the only fix as purchasing the euro version. Those posts were also quite old and I'm wondering if someone has come up with a filler plate option ?

No license plate mounting bracket. I mounted the license plate by drilling two new holes directly into the main bracket. Yikes ... but looks great with no cosmetic marks visible. Looks like a factory install with no clunky looking license plate holder.

The only remedies are:

1 a Euro plate to cover the holes
2 buy an entire new grill without the holes
3 fill the holes and painting them to match the rest of the grill (unless you're very good at this sort of thing, it's likely not really an option.

I'm going to try strips of grey grip tape. I'll post pics.

Does the Euro plate use the same holes already in the grill, if you have the US plate holder. I to would like to get rid of the front plate holder. For some reason my car was delivered to Michigan with a front plate holder, even though Michigan doesn't require them. I really don't want to spend a minimum of $552+ to replace the grill, not including labor and other parts.

It looks like honeycomb grills are as low as $150 on EBay, but I don't suspect them to be anything fantastic.

I'm going ahead with covering the holes with grey grip tape. It looks pretty bad.

After research there doesn't seem to be any options other than a new $552 grill, or switching out the USA shaped plate holder for the Euro version found here Plate Holder | Allroad Post-Facelift European It apparently fits the USA holes, with the exception of a couple clips on the holder you just trim off.

You could buy my grill for $350,had to install a grill with license plate holder due to state laws so I have the original grill collecting dust.
