Stage 1
I am in the market for a 2015-2016 allroad. I saw a video on Youtube that shows a stage 1 modification, via computer. It increases the HP by 60. Has anyone done this modification?

I had a tune on the same engine in my prior A5. It is a dramatic performance bump, especially in torque which is the more utilized in daily driving. Essentially ECU codes are modified to take advantage of over-engineering, somewhat in the way of PC overclocking.
The stock tune is very conservative given the variety of worldwide environments supported. The more aggressive tune is still safe. Of course there's no free lunch, in that you'll be using more fuel and higher octane - but in a very fun way. Just be sure to select a longstanding reputable firm such as APR (and not as in now defunct Stasis).

Now this response is more "on topic" I appreciate it. Is there a chance that taking my car to the dealership for some sort of software update could reset the computer so that the modification area also reset?

Typically a dealer update is in some very specific area which doesn't conflict with the tune parameters. If there were a rare situation where a major factory update would overwrite, most reputable tuners will re-tune at no additional charge. But again such a rare possibility not really something to be concerned about. Do choose a longstanding reputable tune like APR, Revo or the like.

Looks like currently around $600 USD but prices vary with specials often offered by installers.
I have not seen the YouTube video. Felt it better to only comment from my own experience in this thread.

Yes you can so-called 'chip' your car. But be warn the dealership can void your warranty.

When I got my tune a number of years ago Stasis tunes were actually offered at my dealership, so no warranty impact possible.
But as we know a warranty can only be voided if a condition can be traced back to the tune itself (at least under US law).
