Why is driver assistance only on the Prestige?

Why is driver assistance only on the Prestige?
I'm currently negotiating on a Premium Plus. While I had a loaner Subaru XV, it had EyeSight with adaptive cruise control, and I loved it. I find it frustrating that Audi only makes this available in the Prestige, and there are few Prestige models in stock. I'm just curious if anyone knows why Audi neglected to offer this feature on all trim levels? VW offers it on the Passat and CC, I can get it on a 26,000 Honda Civic, or a 26,000 Subaru Impreza, but why not an Audi A4 Premium Plus? What was Audi thinking?

Agreed, the Driver Assistance should have been offered at least at Premium Plus. And since most US dealers aren't ordering Prestige, Audi won't be making much off the DA package stateside.
I guess they just don't think the US market can handle having all that choice.

I think this is one of the biggest mistakes that Audi has made with this car. Most dealers carry a whole lot of PPs but maybe one or two Prestige. Thus there is a lot of bargaining room on the PPs, as a consumer there is no way to justify the huge added cost of the Prestige Package AND the Driver assistance for another $1800. Most people will therefore go for the PP or just move up to an A6 for the price.
I'm ok without the Adaptive CC, the lane keeping assist is the feature that I really wanted anyway and we can essentially code it in via the OBDELEVEN and the guides on this forum. Audi had a real chance to go after BMWs jugular if they made this feature available on the PP - missed opportunity! You can buy a 20K Honda Civic and add the feature to any model for $1000 - smh.

I certainly would have purchased the DA package on my A4 P+ had it been available. However, I wasn't willing to pay extra for LEDs that change color, top-view camera, HUD... Driver's assistance is really the only Prestige only feature that appealed to me.

If you believe what the government and others are saying about the value of "drivers assistance" or "self-driving cars", then the car manufacturers should minimally be offering the package as an option on all trim levels (Premium, P+, or Prestige).
