Default 14 years of ownership and 101,000 miles later....

Hi all you young people ...

I remember the first time I posted in this forum along long time ago (probably about 10+ years ago)... I use to visit and post in this forum along time ago when I bought my first new car, my beloved B5 Audi A4 1.8TQ back in year 2000....Wow, time goes by so fast....

...A lot of things have happened since I first bought my B5 A4 new in 2000. During the past 14 years, I've added more cars to my garage: a Mercedes c320, an E70 BMW X5 when my kid was born, an F10 BMW 550, and a track oriented NA Miata (since for auto-X/track, I need something cheap that I can afford to fix all the time )

However, one thing stayed constant... I've always kept my B5 A4..

I love this car. I pampered it for 14 years. It was more dependable than most people I met, especially my ex wife. And no matter what, I just couldn't bring myself to getting rid of my B5...

...And so, after 14 years of ownership, and 101k miles later, for nostalgic reasons, I thought about this forum, and thought about sharing this picture I took while I was replacing my valve cover gasket for the first time during my 14 years of ownership...

No traces of sludge anywhere....

That's 14 years of Mobil 1 0w40 oil changes with the oversized Mann/Maule filters every 7,500 miles or 6 months, whichever came first.
(*Ok, I occasionally used Castrol Syntec(called Edge now) and Motul when Mobil 1 wasn't on sale... And for the next two years, I'll be using Castrol Edge 0w40, because I was able to pick up four 5quart jugs of it at Walmart for $22/5qts a few days ago)....

FWIW: My B5 is a Santorin 1.8TQ/Tiptronic that was chipped with GIAC..... up until 2 years ago, when the ECU finally gave out (so I'm back to stock with a whopping 150hp until I can find a friend to resolder my chip on another ECU I have).... It also has a Remus exhaust system, but that's it..And the stock turbo is still alive and kicking just fine, 101k miles later...I religiously let the my car idle for 1.5 minutes so the turbo can cool down with flowing oil, with my turbo timer....ironically something I don't bother to do with my BMW X5 35i or with my twin turbo BMW 550..... My only regret with this car was getting tiptronics...should have gotten the 5 speed..

...So as you can see. If you take care of the Audi, it will take care of you

Anyway, just thought I drop in and say hi...

Happy holiday everyone.
