I know this is an old thread but Im not asking a question here... Im stating a fact. I was having problems with restarting my car after the engine had reached operating temperature. Got code PO1296 and after digging up a few posts I found this to be the trick. Replacing the coolant sensor on my 2000 A6 Quattro AWD with 4.2L. worked =D So Im bumping this post back to the top in hope that it helps someone else. Good luck!
