Default Oil filter adapter gasket

Currently trailering my 1998 1.8t a4 home from a snowboard resort because it decided to leave all of it's oil all over the mountain. It looks like the oil was coming out from around the part between the motor and the oil filter. From what I could gather this is called the oil filter adapter. There are gaskets on both sides of it, and I guess one of those gaskets blew.

Anyone have any insight on this? I'm sure it was just an old gasket. Hoping to replace it tomorrow, but just thought i would check if anyone had any experience with this.

Thanks in advance!

Possibly the oil cooler. These fail quite a bit.

Make sure your coolant isn't contaminated with oil or vice verse. And buy the O-ring also.

As long as the oil and coolant are not contaminated, it is probably just the o-ring, right?

Right, the oil cooler has a seal on the top which is easy to replace.
