98 A4 sound system help/Questions
Hi all,
I'm thinking about installing a CD player/changer into my 98' A4 Avant since the old 6 disk CD changer was not in the car when I bought it. Now, I would like to maintain the authenticity of the car and install another one of the 6 disk changers, but I am unsure about compatibility/installment. Is installing another one of the OEM CD players as simple as bolting it into its trunk frame and hooking it up to the connection or is there something else I should be aware of? The wire/connection for the Changer IS in the the trunk compartment, but I am not sure if the previous owner took out the old CD changer or if the car was even optioned with the CD changer new. So, If the car was never optioned with the changer would hooking up a "new" CD changer even work? Is there a way I can tell if the car came with the Changer in the first place and it was simply taken out?
Thanks.

Thanks man, but I double checked and took a closer look at the connector in the Trunk before I bought anything and noticed that 3 of the 13 little pins that hook up with the changer are broken off =/. This explains why the changer was taken out in the first place. Looks like I have to stick with the cassette player and an adapter if I wanna listen to my music fml all the static lol

Forget the CDs move into the next century!
If it's a Concert I head unit adapter plugs directly in to the back of the deck where the CD changer plug would normally be.
Blitzsafe and GROM work well I have used both. GROM makes a Bluetooth version so you can wirelessly stream music from your music device.
