Default '99 A4 Quattro 5spd 2.8L-Could I Re-thread Drive Flange?

Hello. Early this year I purchased a '99 A4 Quattro 5-speed with just under 200k miles. Love the car and this forum has been much help, now almost 210k miles.

CV Inner boot went bad on driver side front and lost all propulsion. The 6, M8x48 3square bolts were missing when the car was dropped in my driveway via tow flatbed truck. After the weekend of removing the pinch bolt holding the upper control arms and finding new control arms at pick-a-part we are ready to install new (remaned) cv half shaft.

Noticed the new six M8x48 bolts (n91108201) we have nor few I found at pick-a-part do not sit in Drive Flange. I assume we drove this too long with failed inner joint and messed the threads

Is this the type of flange that we'll need to prybar off to pass a clip? Something I can re-thread while it's still in the Differential?

How much to replace seals and the clip on an identical one we find at one of the few pick-a-parts around me.

I would go get a thread insert kit. It will come with the correct tap. Make sure you use the right bit, and I would use the red threadlocker on the insert (not the bolt). Good luck with it.

I'm not totally sure I understand what you're saying but it if the threads are still there in the flange, I would try running a thread tap in the flange first. It may just be the outer thread that is messed up when the bolts finally fell out.
