Hi fellows,

Reggie, I've tried to start the engine with charger on the battery - no difference. Last night, I've noticed, that when I spray with screen wash liquid my ignition leads, while the engine is working, I can see some sparks to light out. This should be bad insulation I think, but my question is, is this related to my problem with the first ignition and could this drop down my thrust?

Thank you for your reply 4driver4,

I'll take a note!

I can see that you are experienced user, and I'm sure you have much more experience with A4 than me, but from all your replies to my thread, I cant find anything useful or helpful, related to my problem!

I'll appreciate if your next reply will be related to the topic!

You're right, 4driver4 is good. But to be honest, I would say a lot of us have a hard time understanding your last post. Maybe English isn't your first language, but it was just hard for us to understand.

I fellows,

You're right, my English is bad, but I'm working on it!
Next time I'll try to explain my problems in a better way!

Since its at idle, its possible you have a leaky injector. Maybe the cars flooding when it sits and thats why it takes so long to start? Also fuel pump or filter might be suspect, when was the filter done last?

I have strange problem, which kills me for a long time. I own Audi A4 (B5) year 1996, engine ADP 1.6. My problem is when the car stayed for 2 hours or more in winter and for 6 hours or more in summer the car won’t start from firs time, it starts from second. After the car starts from second try, every next start is O.K until 6 hours in summer and 2 hours in winter cooling time.

Why does it happen?

Today I suspected my fuel pressure regulator and decide to do fuel pressure test. The data I've collected from the test is as follows:

Fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose ON.

Warm engine at idle: 2.25 bars
High RPM: 3 bars
Engine OFF, after 10 min.: 2.75 bars.

My AutoData software gives following information about fuel pressure:
Vacuum ON:
Engine at IDLE: 3.5 bars.
Engine OFF, after 10 min.: 2.75 bars at least.

Why my pressure is different and why the difference is almost 1 bar?

Where should I look for this problem?
Hi guys,

It seems i am experiencing the same problem. I checked all the sensors and seem fine. I am about to check fuel pressure this week. Have you resolved this problem?

OK, problem resolved.
Here is a description of the solution for future generations

It was neither fuel pump, nor fuel pressure regulator nor leaking injector. There is a short plastic hose INSIDE the fuel tank connecting fuel pump and tank cover. This hose had a tiny leak so when the car was idle for a few hours, fuel pressure dropped. Car had problems starting after that. When the car was in operation everything was normal because fuel pump managed to pump enough fuel despite this leaking.
I replaced leaking plastic hose with an ordinary fuel-resistant reinforced rubber hose and everything seems fine for now
