Yes, There are always 5 codes. I've scanned it many times. The 1st code is always P0300 (Random misfire) Then it eventually throws codes for each cylinder misfire. There are no other codes to indicate where the problem might be originating. I spoke to an Audi Mechanic a few days ago and and he said it could be related to an issue with the head. I finally made the car legal by going through my State's "Waiver" procedure to get it registered. I'm just living with the issue until I have time to get the head reworked. Hopefully, this winter.

I don't know that this will help you, but I recently drove my 2002 A4 3.0 Quattro to town without incident. When I started the car to come home, it started missing really bad and had no power. The check engine light started flashing. I made it home and checked the codes: P0300, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306. No codes for camshaft sensors or anything else. I read a post from someone that once the car starts misfiring, it can cause the computer to be confused and throw misfire codes for cylinders unrelated to the cylinder causing the problem.

I cleared the codes and started it up and let it sputter for a minute - the check engine light immediately started flashing again. I turned the car off and read the codes again and had a single code: P0302.

I had changed the coils about 10,000 miles ago, but had not thrown the old ones out. I grabbed one, switched it out on cylinder #2 - Problem solved!

I'm going to order some better quality coils to replace those I got from the local parts store. Sometimes cheap is not always better!
