I tried removing the passenger side by removing the axle nut and the six triple-square bolts on the inside, turning the wheel left and then right, but still could not manage to maneuver it out. Is this possible without removing anything else?

No, You have to remove the long pinch bolt holding the upper control arms to the knuckle, then you can pull it right out.
