Default Front lower control arm balljoint.....

Am I correct in what I read here some years ago that the front lower control arm has an Allen wrench hole at the bottom of the threaded shaft of the balljoint to be used with said wrench to tighten or loosen the nut??

Yes, but you won't need it to loosen. You may, however, need it to install the new one.
