Head unit problem.

Head unit problem.
I just bought an 01 a4 and it came with a cd changer in the back. Now when I put CDs in it does sound like it's working but when I go to the head unit and try pushing on the CDC button nothing happens it doesn't even light up can someone help if you had the same problem or if you know what it can be?
