Headlight Leveling Motor Pinout
I've searched, and searched, but could not find the information on how the leveling motors get wired.
I did find many posts on how to wire them manually, if, and only IF your car came with them and has the wiring. Mine doesn't, and I upgraded the 2 price headlights to facelift Xenon.
On the 8 pin D connector.
I find pin locations more useful, as the wire colours vary from left to right.
(Pin 1) High Beam
(Pin 2) Low Beam
(Pin 4) Ground for Headlights
(Pin 5) Signal for Leveling Motor
(Pin 6) Ground for Leveling Motor
(Pin 7) Power for Leveling Motor 12v
Now how the motor works is, after you ground pin 6 and give pin 7 twelve volts, it will move according to what voltage it senses at pin 5.
I tested it out, and the lowest voltage it responded to is 1.25v, and the highest is 10.5v. As others have done, a potentiometer would be the easiest way of achieving a manual control, but you could also have a switch with 2 resistors on each output. Naturally this would only give you two positions, but you could always stop it midtravel by removing power from the motor.
