I'm replacing the headlights on my daughters 96 A4. I have looked on eBay and other automotive sites, some are too expensive while others lack quality. I was hoping to get opinions from members on what they may have used on their A4.

i feel silly, but i can't even quite tell if my all-OEM '98 pre-facelift a4 has real glass lenses or if they are plastic. anybody know which for OEM halogens? mine are yellow and hazy now. i know i can refinish plastic and i've done it on a 2003 highlander (now yellow again after 9 months - going to try UV clear coat spraypaint after next refinish), but what if they are glass? i'll probably just end up buying drop-in halogen Depo's. the "2-piece" pre-facelift projector halogen version is down to $170 for complete L and R set. i think you lose the built-in foglight feature with these though. and i found replacement unused glass lenses for $30 for each side - but that entails getting the old lenses off and new ones sealed on and moistureproof. ECSTuning has Magnetti Marelli replacements for $284 each while "ultimate-lighting" seller on ebay has a pair (but lose foglight and uses H4 bulb so that's confusing) for $80.

so i'd love some advice too. there are zillions of threads on headlight replacement but most of them deal with upgrading to projectors / Xenon / HIDs rather than simple double bulbed H7 halogen unit replacement.
