How complete is the service? Just the basics or all the associated seals?

Meh. Not the way I like to do things.

$300 in parts, 4 or 5 hours labor.

from what I have been told this job is not easy and therefore out of my DIY range. with that said, what do you think is a fair price at an indy shop?

I'm not criticizing your choice to farm out the work; I'm criticizing your choice to do a half assed job.

As for the price that I think is fair, take 4 or 5 hours, multiply by your shops hourly rate, add $300.

thanks for the advice 4Driver4. To clarify, I should also replace the valve cover seals and cam adjuster plugs? Is there anything else that you would recommend to have done while they are doing the belt service as I am approaching 160,000. thanks for the help

I include cam seals (4), cam adjuster seals (2), cam plugs (2), valve cover gaskets (2) and I inspect the crank seal for leakage. Cam adjuster seals (aka cam chain tensioner seals/gaskets/whatever) are notorious leakers. It's not a matter of "if" but of "when".

I totally agree, I do this just as a hobby and I always keep a set of cam tensioner gaskets, and cam plugs and Valve cover gaskets on hand, because they will leak!! and the parts are cheap, it's the time so if you do 1 do them all
