Default best place to find used engine ( 1.8t ) ???

i am in Denver, CO and am looking for a used 1.8t engine. Will an engine from a passat 1.8t work? Also I have seen a couple for sale without the turbo. I assume my current turbo would work ok, does this seem right?

thanks,

tm

timing belt broke
dealer says minimum $4200 to fix depending on how bad damage is. Car has over 111k miles. figure replacing engine is better/cheaper investment.

opionions appreciated.

bought it used. took a chance. seller said it had been changed but i didn't confirm it. Thanks for taking time out of your day to point out my lack of due dilegence. I hope you feel better about yourself now.

Default Hey Mr. Sensitive, it was just a question. I'm sure he didn't mean to insult you in any way.

That sux about the previous owner... you should find him and beat him down.

Agree - about the previous owner -
i guess i am a little sensitive right now, looks like this is going cost minimun 4k even with a replacement engine.

Does anyone know if I can put a 2000 1.8t engine in my 98 without trouble? I assume this to be ok but I am leary of making any more assumptions.

thanks.
