Can someone tell me how hard to replace the
thermostat to A4?
Seems that anything you do to the A4 is always
hard to access.

My car overheated momentarily last night and
I immediately turned it off. After 15 minutes,
I tried it and I get home without overheating.
I suspect the thermostat got stuck....what do you think?

Well, normally most car has the thermostat at the
top hose, tellin me A4 1.8T located on the block
leading from lower hose?

...I <b>can</b> tell you that much. I've not replaced one myself, but IIRC from looking at the Bentley once, you remove the bottom hose and there it is. Try a search of the archives, you'll probably turn up something more detailed.

It's right under the waterpump in my pics...

You can get to it by removing two 10mm hex screws IIRC.

Remove the bottom hose, and then those two screws? It's on the list of things to do.....but I've been lazy lately...

Yup. The lower hose splits, but like you said, follow it to the block and the T-stat is in there.

don't you need to flush the system in order to change the Tstat?

Yes. You will need to replace the coolant.
