Default how to reset service indicator ln2 on Audi A4 1997 1.8

Hi i have a A4 1997 1.8 since i bought the car a year ago i notice when i turn the ignition on i see engine oil and coolant lights flash also under the trip display i see ln2 come up until a min or two, how can i get this reset my mechanic tried connecting his tool but failed to reset, any help would be great.

Find your local VCDS person to assist.

You need the official version of VCDS , not the shareware version for the 96 thru early 98 cars. The 98.5 and later cars can be reset using using the stalks in the cluster.

Agreed.
My 97 12V had the same problem for years.
The only thing to ever successfully reset it was a full version of VCDS.

Switch ignition OFF.
Press odomenter and instrument cluster reset buttons while switching ignition ON. The following will appear on the odometer display:
"OIL"
Pull clock button until "OIL" is reset. The following will appear on the odometer display:
"- - -"
Press odometer reset button to advance to next service event. The following will appear on the odometer display:
"INSP"
Pull clock button until "INSP" is reset. The following will appear on the odometer display:
"- - -"
Switch ignition OFF.

This won't work on a 97 A4 like the OP has.
