Default Brake Light Flashing

Alright so I just bought a 2001 A4 1.8T, with 40k miles on it. And the brake light just started flashing, and it would beep a couple times every once in a while. When I push the left button in the dashboard to check the computer, it goes to the brake tab, and a red tea kettle looking thing is flashing. I checked my brake reservoir cause I figured it might be low...but infact it was over the max line.

Anyone know whats goin on with my car?? I hope to god that it isn't this ABS control module that I keep reading about!

Get a VAG-COM, pull the codes, the car expects you to shell out some money for this.

Update: So I took my car out to check to see if the ABS worked since its raining outside, and the ABS didn't kick in at all. So I'm guessing that my module is done, which sucks big time. I don't understand how this can happen with only 40k on it. I had a 1998 A4 2.8 and I had 129k miles on it, and never had this problem. This is very disappointing as a car with only 40k miles on it shouldn't have this type of problem.

Default It may only have 40k on the clock, but it's got 7 years at the least

Plently of time IMO for it to fail IMO.

It checked out on Carfax, and the two owners both lived in New York City...so its understandable for them to not drive that much. It had plenty of check ups on the mileage, so i'm pretty sure it's legit.

Or are you just saying that its still a 7 year old car regardless of the mileage...and that still could cause the problem.

Default 7 year regardless of the mileage. Time and temp will always win

But before you jump to any conclusions, pull the codes first to see what the actual problem is.

Yea I'm taking it to my mechanic on Friday...he will check the car from top to bottom pretty much. He is very good with foreign cars, and worked on my other Audi for the whole time I had it. I also checked out the ModuleMaster website, and they will refurbish the controller for $210 with shipping...so I will most likely do that if the controller is the problem.

I'm gonna invest in a Vag-Com pretty soon though...once I figure out how much all of this is gonna cost, haha.

Thanks for the help Nate

Default There has got to ba a low brake fluid level sensor. You say the actual level is fine,

what about the sensor? Maybe it came unplugged(don't know if that possible), maybe the wires going to it are broken.......look at the simple things first if you don't have a VAG-COM.

ModuleMasters is an excellent choice.
