Default Idle problems

My 1998 Audi A4 Quattro was running real good Yesterday I checked the spark plugs and cleaned them after I was done I started her up took a short drive and parked her. When I went to go to the store I started her up and immediately the idle went all the way up to 2800 RPM. so I shut her off. I checked the OBDII scanner and it said that my Air Mass Flow had a low voltage reading. I was advised to get some MAF cleaner and clean the AMF so I did however the idle remained the same. has anybody experienced anything like this before? I'm in some need of advise.

You have a giant vacuum leak or air leak. Whats happening is the engine is pulling all the air in through a leak, and not through the airflow meter, so the signal is "low" 1.8T or 2.8? Check all the intake hoses, vacuum lines, check valves, the breather parts under the intake, PCV valve broken inside.

So if your car was running well, why did you take the spark plugs out? Were you having issues a few days ago? Have you been working on your car recently? Prospeeder asked if you have a 4 or 6 cylinder engine. Knowing that will help.
