Default Just bought my first Audi. Want to answer fng questions?

So i just bought my first audi. 01 a4 avant, 30v 2.8, 5 speed, quattro. It's a very solid car with a few paint flaws, and it needs brakes. I've never owned a European vehicle before, so i have a bunch of questions. Is the 2.8 30v a member of the vr6 family? Does it use a timing belt, or timing chain? It has 133,xxx miles, am i up againt any major service intervals. It seems to have been very well maintained. It recently had the clutch and an engine mount replaced. Is there anything else i need to know about an a4 or the drivetrain? Sorry for the new guy questions, i appreciate any info i can get.

No its not a vr6, its based on the older audi 12v V6 engine, its got a timing belt. You should really make sure its been done, Iv seen some of the V6's to get 140-150k on the original belt before shredding. Do the thermostat when doing the waterpump and timing belt. As far as service goes, gear oil in the rear diff, gear oil in the transmission and power steering oil might be considered for replacement at some point. The v6 engines will leak oil, and stink, when it d oes, timing chain tensioner gaskets, rear cam plugs, and valve covers will need done. Otherwise very solid cars.

In addition to the sites already mentioned, for OE/OEM parts, you might also take a look towards the bottom of the first post in this thread for a list of roughly twenty parts vendors: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-...9-0-a-2877191/.

Have bought parts and had positive experiences from a good number of them, and recently released that shopping tool to handle all those sites. Might make researching and finding parts easier. Hope it helps!

P.S. Here's one of those 5% coupon codes for RockAuto: 284131677829140.
