Just put in an APR stage 1 chip on a 2001 1.8T. There is more power, but it comes on later than stock and is jerky in some parts of the power band. Any reason that this may be happening, besides diverter valve (just replaced that as well)? Isn't the APR chip *supposed* to be the smoother chip? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

nah the apr chip is really high boost 20psi spike
Then it tapers down.. So yeah its pretty damn jerky when that 240ft/lbs of torque hits.
I don't particularily care for the tuners remapping the torque (floorpedal) either. Its rather annoying to press 1/2 way down and get 100% throttle.
Those two things are probably why alot of NON-DBW dis the DBW, and quite frankly, it is purposely done that way to give the "fastest" feeling.

How many miles on the plugs and what gap? Adding a chip will 'stress' components that might not be
noticably weak with the OEM chip.
Also look for boost/vac leaks .. bad hoses and or connections etc.
