Default Motor whine without belts (AEB motor)

The crank pulley is the only one spinning (all belts removed) and there's a fairly loud whine coming from the front of the motor (see linked video). I'm concerned that it's a failing bearing for the crank pulley, or timing belt related (past due for replacement).
Any suggestions or experience with this?

That is an ugly sound. Doesn't sound like the crank, It is really to fast a sound for anything crankshaft related, I'd think one of the rollers on the timing belt. If that fails it gets expensive fast, so it has warned you, best to get after it.

Sounds like the roller in the timing belt. Remove the covers, put it to tdc, remove the belt, roll the tensioner pulley and see if its all worn out. Thats really all it could be. Stop running it before the belt shreds off, you will bend valves and make it a costly repair.

Thanks for the input fellas. I'm about to leave town for a bit, but I'll replace the timing belt and tensioner when I get back, then follow up here for the knowledge bank.

There are 4 peices in there. replace them all! The belt, tensioner, tensioner roller, and an idler that mounts to the body of the tensioner.
